The Dodge Mirada was a mid-sized, rear-wheel drive coupe built from 1980–83, and was one of the three cars based on the Chrysler J platform, the other models being the second generation Chrysler Cordoba and the Imperial, these three vehicles being Chrysler’s response to the downsizing of its car lines. The Mirada was 800 lb (360 kg) lighter and its wheelbase 2.3″ shorter (112.7″ vs 115″) than the Magnum it replaced. Production numbers were low, with just under 53,000 units sold during its production run. The Mirada would stay relatively unchanged during its 4-year run, with the exception of paint colors and engines. It was replaced by the 600 in 1983.

The Turbo Colt/Mirage Turbo was one of Car and Driver magazine’s Ten Best for 1989. The Dodge Spirit is a mid-size 5- or 6-passenger sedan introduced in January 1989 as a replacement for the similarly-sized Dodge 600.The Spirit was Dodge’s version of the Chrysler AA platform, a stretched variation of the Chrysler K platform. It was assembled in Newark, Delaware and Toluca, Mexico, and shared its basic design with the 1990 to 1994 Chrysler LeBaron sedan, the 1989 to 1995 Plymouth Acclaim, and the export-only 1989 to 1995 Chrysler Saratoga. Some also regard the Spirit as the de facto replacement for the smaller Aries and the hatchback Lancer, though the Shadow, new for 1987, is closer in size to the Aries and Lancer. 60,000 Dodge Spirits were sold in its first year[citation needed], enough that Aries production was stopped mid-season. Spirit production ended on 1994 December 9, and the “cab-forward” Stratus was introduced as a replacement.

The Dodge Ram Van was a full-size van marketed under the Dodge brand by the Chrysler Corporation and later DaimlerChrysler. The Ram Van, which was a cargo van, was also available in a passenger van version known as the Dodge Ram Wagon.

Built on the B platform (later AB), the full-size vans entered production for the 1971 model year. At the time, the cargo vans were marketed as the Dodge Tradesman and the passenger vans were called the Dodge Sportsman. The Ram nameplate replaced both previous names in 1979. Due to a rail-through unibody design (uniframe), the Dodge platform was lighter and stronger than the competition, at the expense of NVH. Despite this unibody design, the B-series van was popular for cab-over motorhome conversion until Chrysler Corporation’s egress from that market during their bankruptcy proceedings in the 1970s.

All generations of the B-series van feature similar construction, with only small variation from era to era. The most pronounced changes were to the front fenders, hood, grille, and bumpers, which tended to follow their full-size truck counterparts in each era. Additionally, the first generation’s side door was mounted back several inches, using a fixed panel between the passenger’s side front door and the side door, allowing for more access to the side door without interfering with the front passenger’s seat. This panel was eliminated for the second generation van as it debuted in 1979, and its elimination allowed for a shorter wheelbase vehicle. Similar construction for the entire 32 years of production made the Dodge Van very popular with upbuilders, service companies, and other fleets due to the compatibility of installable options from year to year without necessitating a redesign.

The Daytona used a pointed nose piece that added 18 inches into the front of the car. This gave the car the downforce that the engineers were looking for, but the rear end still tended to lift at speed. To solve this, they mounted a large wing over the trunklid which would give the Charger Daytona and its sister car, the 1970 Plymouth Superbird, the nickname of “wing cars”. The wing was 23 inches tall so that the trunk could be open without hitting the bottom of the wing. Slightly modified fenders and a hood from the upcoming 1970 Charger were used on the Daytona. Rear facing scoops were added to the front fenders, right above the tires, which mimicked their NASCAR brothers. But while they looked cool they didn’t add any aerodynamic adavantage. They were only used to help with tire rub.

Only 503 Charger Daytonas were built with either 440 Magnum or 426 Hemi power. All Daytonas wore red, black, or white bumble stripes that bore the name “Daytona” in the middle of the stripe. The wings were painted the same color as the stripes. The “wing cars” would prove to be so fast and dominating that NASCAR effectively outlawed them for the 1971 season, as a new regulation was introduced that restricted all “aero” cars to a maximum engine displacement of 5.0 L (305 in³), down from the previous 7.0 L (429 in³).
