Chrysler Cordoba (1981-1983)

Chrysler Cordoba (1981-1983) 1

Manufacturer : Chrysler
Productions : 1981-1983
Engine : inline 8 cylinder, 225 cu in (3.7 L) Slant 6 I6
Transmission : 3-speed A904 automatic transmission
Source : wikipedia.org

The Cordoba was downsized for the 1981 model year. The new smaller model used the J-platform that dated back to the 1976 Plymouth Volaré and was twinned up with the newly-named but very similar Dodge Mirada. Chrysler also revived the Imperial for 1981 as a third variant of the J-platform.

The Cordoba and Mirada now had a standard six-cylinder engine (the 225 Slant Six) that, while very reliable, did not seem to be suitable power for these slightly upmarket coupes. The much-detuned 318 cu in (5.2 L) V8 was an option (standard on the Imperial), as the 360 cu in (5.9 L) V8 was dropped.

Chrysler Cordoba (1980)

Manufacturer : Chrysler
Productions : 1980
Engine : inline 4 cylinder, 225 cu in (3.7 L) Slant 6 I6

The 1980  LS model (which was originally intended to be the “300″) featured an aerodynamic-appearing nosecone (nearly identical to that on the Mirada) with a “crosshair” grille. Other features of this model were the deletion of the vinyl roof cover and a monotone color exterior.

The second-generation Cordoba’s styling did not attract the praise of the original, and sales were off substantially. The industry downsizing of vehicles also affected the personal luxury models. Both the Chevrolet Monte Carlo in 1978 and the 1980 Ford Thunderbird shrank in size and sales simultaneously.

Chrysler Atlantic Concept (1995)

Chrysler Atlantic Concept (1995) 1

Manufacturer : Chrysler
Productions : 1995
Source : netcarshow.com

The Chrysler Atlantic was a concept car created by Car Manufacturer DaimlerChrysler under the Chrysler marque. It was first shown in the year of 1995. The Atlantic was designed by Bob Hubbach and was based on the well-known classic supercar, the Bugatti Atlantic.

The Atlantic seems to have a lot of similarities to the original Bugattis, For one thing, the Chrysler Atlantic has a straight-8-engine, just like it’s preedecessor. A second similaity (possibly the most obvious) is the car’s look. It is basically a modern interpretation of it’s predecessor. The Atlantic Concept has around 360 horsepower and uses manual transmission.

1957 Chrysler 300C

Manufacturer : Chrysler
Productions : 1957
Engine : V8, 392 in³ (6.4 L) and 375 hp (280 kW)
Source : netcarshow.com

The 300 “letter series” cars were the vehicles that really rekindled interest in performance among major American manufacturers after World War II, and thus can be considered the muscle car’s ancestors, though much more expensive and exclusive.

Chrysler has recently started using these designations again for sporting near-luxury sedans, using 300M from 1999, and continuing the 300 series with a new V8-powered 300C, the top model of a relaunched Chrysler 300 line, a completely new rear wheel drive car launched in 2004 for the 2005 model year. This is disliked by some fans of old Chryslers who do not approve of the reuse of a 300 letter series designation. Unlike the first series, the second does not have 300 hp engines, except for today’s top-line 300C.

The 1957 300C is generally considered the classic year of the 300 “letter series”. New styling was brought in, with a yawning wide front grille and fins; the Hemi engine was upgraded to 392 in³ (6.4 L) and 375 hp (280 kW), or as a very limited edition 390 hp (290 kW) version (18 built). A convertible model was available for the first time. The car had a number of red, white and blue ’300C’ medallions on the sides, hood, trunk and interior. 1,767 coupes and 484 convertibles were built.

Dodge Spirit (1989-1994)

Manufacturer : Dodge
Productions : 1989-1994
Engine : inline 4 cylinder, 152.00 PS (111,44 kW or 149,25 HP) at 4800 Rev. per min.
Transmission : 5 speed manual transmission
Source : wikipedia.org

The Dodge Spirit is a mid-size 5- or 6-passenger sedan introduced in January 1989 as a replacement for the similarly-sized Dodge 600.The Spirit was Dodge’s version of the Chrysler AA platform, a stretched variation of the Chrysler K platform. It was assembled in Newark, Delaware and Toluca, Mexico, and shared its basic design with the 1990 to 1994 Chrysler LeBaron sedan, the 1989 to 1995 Plymouth Acclaim, and the export-only 1989 to 1995 Chrysler Saratoga. Some also regard the Spirit as the de facto replacement for the smaller Aries and the hatchback Lancer, though the Shadow, new for 1987, is closer in size to the Aries and Lancer. 60,000 Dodge Spirits were sold in its first year[citation needed], enough that Aries production was stopped mid-season. Spirit production ended on 1994 December 9, and the “cab-forward” Stratus was introduced as a replacement.

Dodge Mirada (1980) 1

Productions : 1980
Engine : inline 8 cylinder, 147.7 PS (108,46 kW or 145,27 HP) at 4000 Rev. per min.
Transmission : 3 speed automatic transmission
Source : wikipedia.org

The Dodge Mirada was a mid-sized, rear-wheel drive coupe built from 1980–83, and was one of the three cars based on the Chrysler J platform, the other models being the second generation Chrysler Cordoba and the Imperial, these three vehicles being Chrysler’s response to the downsizing of its car lines. The Mirada was 800 lb (360 kg) lighter and its wheelbase 2.3″ shorter (112.7″ vs 115″) than the Magnum it replaced. Production numbers were low, with just under 53,000 units sold during its production run. The Mirada would stay relatively unchanged during its 4-year run, with the exception of paint colors and engines. It was replaced by the 600 in 1983.
